It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we acknowledge the passing of Rachel Battaglia, a devoted mother, cherished friend, and a courageous woman who faced significant health challenges with strength and grace. Rachel passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 40, leaving behind her 16-year-old son, Daniel Acker, who now faces an unimaginable loss at such a young age.
Rachel was known for her unwavering love and dedication to her family, especially her son, Daniel. As a mother, she was his constant source of support, encouragement, and guidance. Her love for Daniel was the driving force behind everything she did, and it was clear to all who knew her that her greatest joy was seeing him thrive. Despite her battles with lupus and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Rachel remained a pillar of strength for her son and those around her.
Daniel, a passionate and talented high school football player, has been devastated by the loss of his mother, who was his biggest cheerleader and most loyal supporter. Her death has left a void in his life that cannot be filled, and in addition to his emotional grief, Daniel is now facing significant financial hardships due to the absence of life insurance. This heartbreaking combination of loss and uncertainty makes this time even more difficult for him.
Rachel’s passing is not only a personal loss for Daniel but also a loss for the entire community of North Tonawanda. She was a kind and selfless individual, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer her support to others. Whether through her involvement with local events or simply by being there for her friends and neighbors, Rachel made a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we remember Rachel, we hold her memory close and reflect on the love, resilience, and kindness she embodied. Her spirit lives on through Daniel and the many lives she touched. During this incredibly difficult time, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Daniel, as well as to all of Rachel’s family and friends. May they find strength and comfort in knowing how deeply she was loved.
A memorial fundraiser is being organized to help Daniel with financial support as he navigates this painful time. In honor of Rachel’s memory, let us rally around Daniel and offer our support as he faces the future without the mother who meant everything to him.
May Rachel Battaglia rest in peace, and may her memory be forever cherished by all who knew her.
