Born in 1959, Ajit Pawar was a dynamic leader whose political journey was marked by perseverance and a desire to carve out his own identity. He entered public life under the mentorship of his illustrious uncle, Sharad Pawar, and initially made his mark in the cooperative sector before stepping into electoral politics. In 1991, Ajit Pawar was elected as a Member of Parliament from Baramati, a seat that has long been associated with his family. He later resigned this position to enable Sharad Pawar to contest the seat after being inducted into the Union Cabinet under Prime Minister P. V. Narasimha Rao.
His legislative career in Maharashtra commenced in 1995 when he was elected to the state assembly from Baramati, a constituency that he represented successfully in subsequent elections in 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019. Over the years, Ajit Pawar emerged as one of the most influential regional leaders in western Maharashtra, known for his strategic acumen and commitment to regional development.
