It is with deep sadness that we remember the life of Carolyn Jean (Tarantelli) Wilson, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, who passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on January 29, 2026. Carolyn’s life was one of selflessness, dedication, and service to others, qualities that she embodied throughout her 44-year career as a nurse and in her personal relationships. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless individuals whose lives she touched with her compassion and care.
Born in Geneva, NY, on October 11, 1946, Carolyn was a daughter of the late Orlando and Mary (De John) Tarantelli. She graduated from De Sales High School in 1964, where she began laying the foundation for a life of service. Carolyn went on to graduate from the Registered Nursing program at Albany Medical Center in 1967, beginning what would become a remarkable career in healthcare. Her nursing journey took her from Sanford University Hospital in California to the VA Hospital in Memphis, and finally, to Geneva General Hospital, where she devoted nearly 30 years to serving her community with exceptional dedication.
Carolyn’s love for her profession and her patients was matched only by the love she had for her family. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Dove Russo (formerly known as Christina Wilson), and a cherished sister to Shirley (Tarantelli) Albano. Her warmth extended to her extended family, including her sister-in-law Betty Ann Tarantelli, sister-in-law Barbara King, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephews, all of whom lovingly called her “Extra-Grammie.” Carolyn was also deeply fond of her grand puppies, Zoey “Underfoot” Russo and Malcolm “I Aim to Misbehave” Reynolds, who brought her joy in her later years.
Carolyn was predeceased by her brother Robert Tarantelli and brother-in-law Peter Albano, both of whom she held dear. Though she has left this world, her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Carolyn’s legacy of care, love, and kindness will never be forgotten, and she will always be remembered for the profound impact she had on the lives she touched.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in her honor on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at St. Stephen Church in Geneva, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends may gather to pay their respects on Monday, February 2, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home in Geneva. Contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Our deepest condolences go out to Carolyn’s family during this time of sorrow. May the love and strength of those around you bring comfort in the days ahead. Carolyn will always be remembered with fondness, respect, and gratitude for the life she lived.
