Matthew Morrow Sandusky, Ohio Obituary, Death: Community Mourns Passing

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Dr. Matthew E. Morrow, a beloved husband, father, and dedicated physician. Matt’s unexpected passing on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the age of 62, has left a profound void in the Sandusky community and beyond. His legacy of compassion, healing, and service to others will continue to live on in the many lives he touched throughout his 30-year career in medicine.

Born on January 20, 1964, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Matt was the son of the late John and Mary (Schaefer) Morrow. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, in 1982 and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University. His passion for helping others led him to Creighton University Medical School, where he met his wife, Kathy. Following medical school, he completed his residency at Creighton University and his fellowship at the University of Missouri before embarking on a distinguished career in medicine.

Matt’s professional journey brought him to Sandusky, Ohio, where he practiced medicine for more than three decades. As a dedicated physician with Sandusky Orthopedics and Rheumatology, and most recently Sandusky Rheumatology, Matt made a lasting impact on countless patients. His deep commitment to his craft, combined with his empathy and genuine care, earned him the admiration of both his colleagues and his patients.

In addition to his work, Matt was a man of profound faith. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and participated in the Men’s Group, demonstrating his commitment to his faith and community. Outside of his professional and spiritual commitments, Matt was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and boating. He also cherished time spent at his family’s home on Kelleys Island, where many joyful memories were made with his loved ones.

Above all else, Matt’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to Kathy, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years, and a loving father to their children, Sara and Joe. His dedication to his family was evident in the time he spent attending their events and always being present in their lives.

Matt is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children, Sara and Joe (Anna), his sister-in-law Heather, his brothers-in-law, Dave (Julie) and Steve (Nancy), and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Dan, and infant sister, Elizabeth.

Matt’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched, the love he shared, and the exemplary care he provided. As a man who embodied kindness, faith, and commitment, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Matt’s family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in peace.
